The European Commission has announced the funding distribution for projects benefiting from the third edition (2024-2027 period) of the CEF, the EU’s programme for strategic investments in transport infrastructure.
The cross-border section of the new Lyon-Turin railway line will receive a contribution of EUR 700 million: this is the third largest European investment among the 134 projects selected. Once again, Europe confirms its commitment to a more efficient and sustainable transport network and its support for the construction of the new railway line, which is proceeding with the excavation of the Mont Cenis base tunnel (the advancement of the galleries is over 37 km, including 13.7 km of the base tunnel).
This funding, together with those from France and Italy, ensures the financial covering necessary to continue the work. TELT and the two states will also participate in the next calls for tenders until the completion of the infrastructure.
