Between June and July 2019, the French BVA and the Italian DOXA companies conducted a survey on behalf of TELT on the perception of the Lyon-Turin freight and passenger rail project. The survey, conducted through telephone and online interviews, involved a sample of 2,000 people between France and Italy: inhabitants of the valleys and Regions directly linked to the project, but also citizens of other territories.
The attached documents explain the methodologies used, the percentages of the different responses and provide some interpretations of the collected data, highlighting that the Lyon-Turin project enjoys broad support and consensus, especially in the valleys hosting the construction work, even if for different reasons in the two countries. However, the reduction of heavy vehicle traffic and the support to rail transport are the most widely shared arguments.
